Porsche Taycan Wins World Car of the Year

This year the Porsche Taycan took home first place in two categories – World Performance Car of the Year and World Luxury Car of the Year! World Car of the Year: Porsche Taycan

The Porsche Taycan was released in late 2019, and has been collecting awards even before it was released. The World Car of the Year awards were evaluated by 86 international automotive journalists and they assessed over 50 vehicles this year. Michael Steiner, Member of the Executive Board and Research and Development team, received the awards. He had this to say on the experience: “This double win in the categories World Performance Car and World Luxury Car underlines what we wanted to achieve when we developed the Taycan. We wanted to create a driver-focused, fully electric sports car that can take on any Performance Car. Collecting Awards Internationally

The Porsche Taycan has already won 40 international prizes in Germany, the United Kingdom, United States, and China. Some of the Taycan’s awards include, Car of the Year: Top Gear magazine (UK), Game Changer of the Year: Top Gear magazine (UK), The China Green Car of the Year: Chinese Car of the Year (CCOTY), German Car of the Year: German Car of the Year (GCOTY), and the innovation prize from Connect magazine (Germany).

The Taycan’s Unrivaled Performance

The Porsche Taycan is Porsche’s first fully-electric vehicle. The Taycan can be charged from 5% to 80% in just 22.5 minutes using a 270-kilowatt direct current quick charger, or at home from 0% to 100% in 10.5 hours. The range of the Taycan is about 300 miles on a single charge. The Taycan Turbo makes the 616 horsepower (460 kW) and can do 0 to 60 mph in 3 seconds flat. The Taycan Turbo S comes with up to 750 horsepower (and is capable of going 0 to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds.
