Porsche Announces Three New Models at the Geneva Motor Show
Porsche had an impressive showing at the 89th Geneva Motor Show as they announced three new models for 2020 – the 911 Cabriolet, the 718 Boxster T and Cayman T, and the Macan S. All three models feature improvements to performance, technology, and connectivity.
2020 Porsche 911 Cabriolet
The most talked about of Porsche’s new models is the 911 Cabriolet. The 2020 model will be the 8th generation of the 911 family. The new 911 was originally unveiled about 4 months ago at the Los Angeles Auto show but the convertible Cabriolet was just unveiled in Geneva. This new generation of the 911 will feature more power and more technology than ever before, making a great edition to the iconic 911 family.
The 2020 911 Cabriolet boasts 443 horsepower with top track speeds of 190 mph. That powerful rear-engine is combined with an 8 speed automatic Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission. The newly designed Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) creates a comfortable yet performance driven experience. Available driver assists include Lane Keeping Assist, Collision and Brake Assist, Night Vision Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Park Assist with Surround View, and the new WET mode which recognizes wet road conditions and aids the driver accordingly.
The technology in the new 911 doesn’t just pertain to performance and safety. The new 911 comes with Porsche Connect which is filled with features to help you connect with life with your Porsche. Porsche Connect features include Navigation with Real-Time Traffic Information, music services from you smartphone, voice recognition and more. All of the performance, technology, and convenience updates make the 2020 911 Cabriolet the best 911 to date.
2020 Porsche 718 Boxster T and Cayman T
Porsche also announced two new Touring models to add to their 718 lineup. The Touring edition of the 718 will be available in both the Boxster and Cayman. Porsche Touring special editions are known to strip some of the non-essential items from the vehicle and solely focus on performance. The 718 T is no exception to this rule. What you are left with is a lighter, simpler performance machine that gives the driver a classic driving experience.
The new 718 T is said to come with a turbocharged 2.0L, 300 horsepower engine, and will be available in a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The 718 T models will come with additional upgrades such as 20 inch wheels, the Sport Chrono package, Porsche Torque Vectoring, and Porsche Active Suspension Management, which lowers the 718 T about an inch lower than normal. The 718 T is sure to be a great edition to Porsche’s successful line of Touring performance editions.
2020 Porsche Macan S
The 2020 Porsche Macan Sport edition could be the most popular of the recent announcements considering the Porsche Macan was Porsche’s best-selling model in 2018. The 2020 Macan S also comes with improvements to performance and technology both inside and out.
The taillights and headlights of the Macan S feature LED technology that will be standard moving forward. The Macan S will come equipped with a 3.0L V6 turbocharged engine making around 350 horsepower. This engine is more powerful than ever before for the Macan model, and it will be paired perfectly with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and Porsche’s all-wheel drive traction management. These performance upgrades make the 2020 Macan S are very strong performance SUV, which is a growing segment.
The new Macan S will also come with an available suite of driver assists like Traffic Jam Assist and Porsche Connect to name a few. Inside the Macan S you will find features like redesigned and rearranged air vents, an optional GT steering wheel, voice control, standard online navigation, and even an ionizer to help improve the air quality inside the vehicle. One of the most impressive features in the interior is the 10.9 inch touchscreen as part of the new Porsche Communication Management System.
All of these performance, technology, and comfort improvements will make the driving experience truly one of a kind. You can get the performance of a sports car with the convenience of an SUV, and not compromise any of the comfort and technology of a luxury vehicle. The new Macan S is arguably the most anticipated release from Porsche’s recent announcements and will be a great addition to their lineup.
